My On The Go Makeup Routine

Sooooo... this is what my usual daily makeup looks like.

Sorry for the duckface. I don't know what was going through my mind when I took this 😅

I mean...This WAS what my usual daily makeup looks like. I had the full foundation, concealer, setting powder, bronzer, blush, highlight, eyeshadow primer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, eyebrows and lippie on.

Before having Zyon (and even during my pregnancy period), I had the luxury of time to slowly get ready for work or going out. I could spend 30 minutes to one hour to work on each part of my face. But with Zyon around now, I couldn't do that...especially now at 6 months where he seeks for attention and company whenever he's awake. So either I end up with half done makeup or without any makeup on.

I decided that I had to think of a better way to look alive and presentable. Going around without makeup is not an option coz have you seen me without makeup? 😱😱😱. I have to also make sure that the getting ready time was as short as possible. So I've tried and tested a few makeup routines as suggested online for some time. It's safe to say now that I've found the perfect on the go makeup routine for myself.

Let me just go through my newly perfected getting ready routine with you all...

Step 1: BB Cushion

I've been loving and using BB Cushions even before I became a mum. I love how easy and fast it is to apply onto the face as compared to the regular liquid foundation...which I regularly used before discovering BB Cushions.

All you need to do is get some product on the sponge provided in the BB Cushion. Then dab dab dab on your face and voila! you're done 😃 Sorry I didn't have a clean sponge to show you guys so this will have to do hehe.

The BB Cushion is also a 5-in-1 product so I can skip out a lot of steps prior to applying the BB Cushion if I am in a hurry. In case you guys don't know yet, BB Cushions are claimed to be able to replace moisturizer, primer, sunscreen and concealer while working like a foundation.

My favorite BB Cushion at the moment is the April Skin Magic Snow Cushion. I love it coz it is very moisturizing and fits my shade perfectly. Definitely gonna repurchase this when mine runs out.

What I do not like about BB Cushions (all BB Cushions, not just the April Skin one) tho is that their shade range is extremely limited. They cater mostly for light to medium skin tones. Many of my darker skin tone friends could not use it because there aren't dark shades available for them. I hope in the future they will be more shades available lah so that more people will be able to use it.

Step 2: Powder

Many people like the dewy look right now but I am not one of those people 😐 I would mattify my BB Cushion with a setting powder. With the setting powder, I could last through all day feeling comfortable and matte as opposed to when I only have the BB Cushion on.

I haven't found my favorite setting powder yet but this Canmake Transparent Finish Powder is so aesthetically pleasing that I can't stop using it. Just by looking at the beautiful packaging made my day. As a product, this powder is considered not bad. The powder is transparent and doesn't have any scents. But sometimes when I'm not careful, this can cake up my face.

Still on a lookout for a better setting powder so do recommend any setting powders that you guys love in comment section below. Preferably drugstore and affordable. I know there are pretty good high end ones. But I'm looking for cheaper options now.

Step 3: Blush

The secret to not look like a walking dead is to have a little flush on the face. This can be created by using blushes.

I've recently discovered that cream and liquid blushes are the best type of blush for people who are on the go or always in a hurry. All you need to do is apply the blush on the face and simply blending out with the fingers. Super fuss free.

I only have one cream blush in my collection right now 😅. It is the Holika Holik Gudetama Lazy & Easy Jelly Dough Blusher.

I love that the blush comes with a sponge (the sponge is similar to the ones in the BB Cushions but much more filmsy. That's why I didn't wash it 😒) which helps a lot with applying and blending.

The shade of the blush looks super natural against my skin tone (might not seem like it here coz I dip quite a lot to show you guys the color clearer) but unfortunately the blush is not long lasting for whole day use. By about half the day, my flush is almost all gone.

This blush is limited edition so like the setting powder, I'm also looking for another cream blush to add to my collection. Hopefully I'll be able to find a similar one to replace this or perhaps an even better one lah.

Step 4: Mascara

Back when I was younger, if you asked what is the one makeup item that I can't live without for my eyes, I'll tell you that it is the liquid liner. But at this time of my life, I've slowly abandoned my liquid liner from my daily makeup. The reason for this is coz liquid liner takes a lot of time to put on perfectly...especially the winged eye liner look which I love.

Now I've favored the mascara over the liquid liner. Mascaras are able to open your eyes by fanning out your lashes. This way of opening up your eyes is more natural compared to a full on lined eyes. Plus applying mascara is so damn easy. Just a few swipes and you're good to go.

I've just ran out of my Holy Grail mascara (Dejavu Fiberwig Extra Long Mascara) so I can't show it to you guys. I'm also currently testing out a few other options (this one from Maybelline is one of it) to see if any mascaras in the market right now could replace this Holy Grail of mine. Maybe next I could talk about some of my favorite and least favorite mascaras?

Step 5: Eyebrows

Ok I lied. I think mascaras are not really that important. Instead, my eyebrow products are my life saver. I always feel incomplete if my brows are not perfectly done when I leave the house.

Doing brows actually takes the most time in this makeup routine. But since I've cut down so much time for doing other things, I have a lot of time to work on my brows.

Recently I've been loving this combination of using NYX Micro Brow Pencil and Essence Make Me Brow brow gel to do my brows. I'll draw the outer shape and fill in the brows with the NYX pencil. Then I'll set the brows in place with the Essence brow gel. This combination creates a set of very natural brows and it lasts all day thanks to the brow gel.

Step 6: Lippie

To finish it off, I'll put on some sort of lip product on my lips. I feel like other than blushes, lippies also can help to liven up a dead looking face.

Usually I prefer a nude shade on my lips. I have tonnes of MLBB lippies coz those are my jam. But when I'm feeling a little extra, I'll go for a bold or bright lip color.

Please excuse the terrible swatches hehe.

I love to use matte lippies coz it lasts for a very long time without having to reapply constantly. But it can be very drying...especially during the dryer months. Recently I've been love the Peripera Airy Ink Velvet. They are moist when applied and does not suck out the moisture out of your lips as it dries down. It's also transfer proof and last through all day or even more. I think it has slowly become my favorite lip product of the year.

With these six products, my makeup is done. It doesn't look as "complete" as my usual makeup but at least I look decent lah. But guess how long did I take to complete this look? It took less than 10 minutes!!! It took so much shorter time if compared with the makeup routine that I had before this. I was even able to complete it while Zyon is by my side.

So yeah I think for the moment this will be my everyday go to makeup routine d...unless if Zyon is sleeping or my mum is free to take care of him, then I'll go on with that full 30 minutes makeup routine.

I strongly recommend this makeup routine to all fellow mums out there. Believe me...with this, you'll never have to go out of the house bare faced again. Of course you don't have to be a mum to follow this makeup routine. Anyone who is always on the run or need to get ready super fast, can try this out. I promise it won't disappoint.

Well that's all for today's post. I've spent quite sometime working on this post and it is the first beauty related post here on the blog. Maybe I did in the past but I can't really remember lah 😁 I hope this was helpful in some ways for you guys. If any of you have any other suggestions for future beauty related post, please comment down below. I would be glad to share what I know with you guys.

Alright then, I'm gonna say goodbye now. See you guys in the next post.

Bubbye~
